By a close vote, the San Bernardino City Council yesterday [Monday] made perhaps one of the most significant financial decisions in the city’s 160-year history... certainly the most significant decision since the city filed for bankruptcy three years ago. By a 4-3 vote, the San Bernardino council voted to formally eliminate the city fire department and contract with San Bernardino County for fire protection and emergency services.
