A regional conference held at Cal State San Bernardino Thursday brought together representatives from Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties to discuss solving homelessness in our area. KVCR's Benjamin Purper has more.
The conference, called “Ending Homelessness in the Watershed,” brought together leaders from the three counties to discuss the issue of homelessness.
Kent Paxton is the Homeless Policy Advisor for San Bernardino County’s 5th District. He says the point of the conference is to bring together community leaders to start conversations about homelessness.
“Because it's through a process like this that those conversations begin and move into action. Because it's okay for each jurisdiction to go back and say that was a great get together, back to business, as opposed to what's our next step with this bigger discussion," Paxton says.
Speakers also urged people to volunteer for the annual Point-in-Time Count, the surveying of all the homeless people in a given area.
