SoCal Edison Offers Series Of Public Meetings On Planned Power Outages

May 14, 2020

With fire season underway, Southern California Edison is offering a series of public meetingsonline to answer community questions about the utility’s wildfire mitigation plan. Webinars kicked off Wednesday evening.

Residents can expect power outages again this year as part of Southern California Edison’s wildfire prevention measures. With stay at home orders still in effect this may present a new challenge for those working from home.

“We understand what a stressful time this is and how important it is for all our customers and their families to have electricity at home. We’ve taken many other measures to mitigate the risk of utility caused wildfire and to reduce a need for any kind of preemptive power shutoffs due to extreme weather conditions,” says David Song an SCE spokesman.

Over the next two weeks, the utility is offering webinars to interested residents to learn more about the outage schedule and other preparations for the current season.

The community will also have a chance to hear about SCE’s COVID-19 response, lessons learned from 2019 and engage in a discussion with emergency preparedness experts.
