A grand jury today returned a “no bill” in the case of the Corona Costco shooting, where an off-duty LAPD police officer shot and killed a developmentally disabled man – meaning the officer will not be indicted.

The shooting occurred in June, when off-duty LAPD police officer Salvador Sanchez shot and killed Kenneth French and wounded his father and mother.

After investigations from the Corona Police Department and the Riverside District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation, the case was presented to a criminal grand jury.

On Wednesday, Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin announced that the grand jury could not find evidence that the matter warrants a criminal prosecution.

Hestrin: “After considering all the evidence, the grand jury decided that no criminal charges should be filed in this case.”

Sanchez could still face consequences from the shooting, including administrative action from the LAPD.
