RIVERSIDE (CNS) - Gusty winds will buffet the Inland Empire
mountains and deserts today and could cause hazardous driving conditions,
according to the National Weather Service.
The agency issued a wind advisory that will last until 11 p.m. today
for the inland mountains of Riverside County mountains, the San Gorgonio Pass near
Banning and the Coachella Valley.
Wind speeds today are expected to range from 20 to 30 mph with gusts
of 55 mph possible along the desert mountain slopes, forecasters said. Isolated
gusts could reach 65 to 70 mph while gusts in the Coachella Valley will reach
40 mph at times.
Driving conditions could be impacted by blowing dust and debris,
according to the NWS. Drivers of high-profile vehicles were advised to be
particularly wary of using desert roads, or going through the San Gorgonio
Pass.
A slight chance of rain will increase this afternoon and scattered
showers are expected through Thursday morning, forecasters said.
The Inland Empire has a 40 percent chance of measurable
precipitation today, while the mountains have a 30 percent chance and the San
Gorgonio Pass near Banning and the Coachella Valley each have a 20 percent
chance.
High temperatures today will be 61 to 66 degrees in the inland valleys, 50 to 60 in the mountains, 71 to 76 in the San Gorgonio Pass
and 78 to 83 in the Coachella Valley.
