Windy & Chilly In The Inland Valleys, Spring Snow In The Mts, And Hazardous Driving On Roads Monday

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - It'll be chilly and breezy in Inland Southern California today (Monday), as gusty winds - providing a wind chill factor to temperatures in the 60s -  will buffet the mountains and deserts in the Inland Empire today (Monday) and could cause hazardous driving conditions, according to the National Weather Service.  Meanwhile, an inch or two of snow is reported to have fallen in areas in the inland mountains overngiht, prompting the CHP to require chains or traction devices on non-4-wheel-drive vehicles on mountain highways.
The winds blowing to the west and southwest prompted the NWS to issue a wind advisory that will last until 11 p.m. Tuesday for the inland  mountains, the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning and the Coachella Valley.

In the inland mountain communities, the snow level will go from 5,500 feet today to 7,500 feet tomorrow, with scattered showers ove the next few days.
Wind speeds today are expected to range from 25 to 35 mph with gusts
of 55 mph possible along the desert mountain slopes, forecasters said. The
strongest winds are expected on Tuesday.
Powerful winds could whip up sand and dust and create potentially
hazardous driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles, the NWS
warned.
Partly cloudy skies will accompany the winds today along with a chance
of scattered showers throughout the county, forecasters said.
The IE metropolitan area has a 30 percent chance of measurable
precipitation today, while the mountains have a 40 percent chance and the San
Gorgonio Pass near Banning and the Coachella Valley each have a 20 percent
chance.
A chance of scattered showers is expected to remain in the region
through Thursday night, forecasters said.
High temperatures today will be 63 to 69 degrees in the inland valleys, 51 to 61 in the mountains, 73 to 78 in the San Gorgonio Pass and 78 to 83 in the Coachella Valley.
