Moreno Valley 'Merwyn Fire' Burns 175 Acres Of Brush, 25% Contained;

CalFire

At last report Thursday morning, CalFire and other agencies had a handle on a brush fire that has burned 175 acres in Moreno Valley since it started last night.  The so-called 'Merwin Fire' began just before 9:00pm Wednesday night near the corner of Merwin Street and Campbell Avenue, south of Alessandro Blvd. and east of Redlands Blvd.  As of Thursday morning, the fire was 25 percent contained, and firefighters were confident that they would be able to keep the blaze mostly under control until full containment.  KVCR's Ken Vincent had other details on the fire in KVCR's Morning Edition this morning:

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
