Bruder Fire Threatens Homes, Prompts Evacuations In Redlands

Redlands Fire Department

The Bruder fire, a brush fire that began late Wednesday night in south Redlands, has burned 125 acres and is 30% contained as of Thursday morning.

The blaze started around 10p.m. off Live Oak Canyon Road and prompted evacuations of homes nearby.

By 2:30a.m. Thursday, 265 firefighters were on the scene battling the fire.

Mandatory evacuation orders were put into place for homes south of Sunset Drive, from Edgemont Drive to Puesta Del Sol, and homes north of Live Oak Canyon Road from the 10 Freeway to San Timoteo Canyon Road.

As many as 55 homes are threatened, and an evacuation center has been set up by the Red Cross at Redlands High School.

Winds are forecast to reach as high as 25 mph today, which could worsen the fire, according to Cal Fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
