Local literary nonprofit the Inlandia Institute and the Riverside Art Museum have teamed up for Suicide Prevention Month, presenting an online juried exhibition around suicide prevention in September.

Cati Porter is the executive director of the Inlandia Institute. She says the project originated with the Riverside Art Museum, where some artists wanted to find a way to commemorate Suicide Prevention Month.

The Riverside Art Museum is hosting a pop-up preview of Cheech Marin’s collection of Chicano art.

The pop-up preview of The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry – nicknamed The Cheech – showcases more than half a dozen large pieces from Marin’s personal collection of Chicano art.

The featured artists include Carlos Almaraz, Gronk and Frank Romero.

Drew Oberjuerge is the Executive Director of the Riverside Art Museum.

Officials from the City of Riverside and the Riverside Art Museum were scheduled to hold a news conference today (Tuesday) with activist, philanthropist, actor and comedian Cheech Marin to outline plans to allow the Riverside Art Museum to permanently house Marin's large collection of Chicano art in Riverside.  KVCR's Ken Vincent has more.

Cheech Marin - who gained fame as half of the comedy duo Cheech & Chong - was in Riverside yesterday, to talk about his new memoir, and to present the Riverside Art Museum with the gift of artpieces from his extensive collection of Chicano art.  More from KVCR's Ken Vincent
