Favorable weather conditions and a boost in resources have helped firefighters increase containment of the
Wildomar Fire from 75 percent Saturday evening (Oct 28) to 90 percent Sunday morning, while holding the blaze to 850 acres burned.
Cal Fire's Twitter feed announced Sunday morning that 90 percent containment has been reached on the mainly chaparral -fed fire burning west of the foothill communities in Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, and Murrieta.
The U.S. Forest Service's incident website still projects 100 percent containment of the Wildomare Fire by mid-day Monday, Oct 30.
Authorities have already began scaling back the number of personnel on the fire lines from nearly 1000 Satruday to fewer than 900 Sunday. Also, as the blaze is mainly within the boundaries of the the Cleveland National Forest, Orange County and Riverside County fire authorities are disbanding Unified Command and turning command of the effort to the U.S. Forest Service.
Some 200 homes in the area were evacuated for a time shortly after the Wildomar Fire was first reported mid-day Thursday, Oct. 26. All evacuations and road closures were lifted Friday evening.
