The Riverside County District Attorney's Office has filed multiple charges against the Inland man suspected of starting the Cranston Fire that could send him to prison for life.
Riverside County District Attorney Michael Hestrin announced today (Friday) a total of 15 arson-related felony charges against Brandon McGlover, 32, of Temecula. The DA alleges that McGlover set a total of 9 blazes that day in areas in and around Riverside County's portion of the San Bernardino National Forest, including near Idyllwild, Anza, and Sage. The largest of those blazes, alleges the DA, is the Cranston Fire (for the latest update on the Cranston Fire, use the link at the bottom of this article) The District Attorney asserts that, if convicted, the suspect could receive a life sentence.
McGlover was detained by law enforcement authorities on Wednesday, July 25, within an hour after the Cranston Fire was reported around noon that day. Multi-agency alerts, witness descriptions of the suspect's vehicle, and rapid work by law enforcement officers were credited for the quick arrest of the suspect.
McGlover is being held in custody in lieu of $1 million bail. He was due to make his first appearance in court this afternoon (Friday) at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
