Hazardous Winds Will Continue To Plague IE Through Wednesday Afternoon

You Tube

Gusty winds are expected to continue today (Tuesday) in parts of the Inland Empire, including the valleys ... the mountains and the San
Gorgonio Pass near Banning. A National Weather Service wind advisory will
remain in effect through noon tomorrow in all three areas. The Coachella Valley
is not included in the wind advisory. The National Weather Service says
powerful winds could whip up sand and dust and create potentially hazardous
driving conditions ... especially for high-profile vehicles. Officials are
urging drivers to be cautious in low-visibility areas and look out for possible
downed trees and power lines. Windy conditions knocked out power to more than
450 Southern California Edison customers in the Coachella Valley yesterday and
may have contributed to overturning a big rig on state Route 62 in Desert Hot
Springs ... which forced the closure of the highway for around two hours
yesterday (Monday) morning.

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
