Can San Bernardino Overcome It's Latest Stigma?

Yet again – as has happened in the recent past – circumstances have cast a spotlight with dubious shadows on the reputation of city of San Bernardino.  In the 1990, the city was known as a murder capital, and gun violence remains stubbornly high.  The city has struggled with high rates of poverty and, three years ago, San Bernardino filed for bankruptcy.  Now, the city is known around the world for one of the worst mass shootings in recent U.S. history. 

To reflect on the plight of San Bernardino, Steven Cuevas – the L.A. Bureau Chief for KQED’S “The California Report” and a former resident of the Inland Empire – spoke with the California Report’s Queena Kim.
