Earlier this week, a 6-year-old boy named Daniel Ramirez passed away in Washington state from a mysterious ailment that is suspected to be a rare neurological syndrome — acute flaccid myelitis.
The syndrome has now potentially affected nine children in the area, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating the cases.
