   INDIO (CNS) - Psychedelia and lifted hip-hop will take center stage during the 4/20 holiday today at the Coachella Music & Art Festival.
   Tame Impala, Kid Cudi and Wiz Khalifa are the big names set to perform at Coachella on Marijuana Day under appropriately cloudy skies and high temperatures. The eclectic day of music is sandwiched between back-to-back powerhouse performances that took place Friday night, which included Childish Gambino and Janelle Monae, and what is sure to be a showstopping performance by  Kanye West Easter morning.

  INDIO (CNS) - Thousands of fans will flock to Indio today for Weekend 2 of the Coachella Valley Music & Art Festival.
   They'll be greeted this morning by high temperatures, which will reach near 100 degrees during the day, but the Saturday 4/20 celebrations will be broken up with clouds and slightly cooler temperatures of around 95 degrees. Sunday is forecast to have highs of 84 without the protection of the clouds as rapper Kanye West is set to take the stage for his Sunday Service on Easter Day.

INDIO (CNS) - For the second year in a row, arrests dropped during the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, with police announcing today that 99 people were arrested during the fest's opening weekend.
   Of the 99 people taken into custody -- out of more than 120,000 festival attendees -- roughly 90% were arrested for drug- or alcohol-related reasons, according to Indio police. Six people were arrested for false identification and three for possession of drugs for sale. Three of the arrests were categorized as ``other.''

INDIO (CNS) - The first weekend of the Coachella Music & Art Festival 2019 ended on a high note as headliner Ariana Grande was joined on stage by iconic boy band NSYNC, minus Justin Timberlake, before some 120,000 people began the exodus from the Empire Polo Field in Indio.
   Grande opened her set with ``God Is a Woman'' followed by ``Bad Idea'' from her latest album.
   Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick joined Grande on stage to perform ``Tearin' Up My Heart.''
   ``Thanks @arianagrande for having us,'' Fatone tweeted after the set.

   Childish Gambino ... Janelle Monae and The 1975 will light up the Coachella stage Friday night with back-to-back-to-back performances beginning at 25-past-8. Saturday's schedule will include Weezer at 8:35 in the evening at the Coachella stage ... Billie Eilish at 9-35 at the Outdoor Theatre ... Tame Impala at 10:35 p.m. at the Coachella stage ... Kid Cudi at 5-to midnight at the Sahara ... and Bassnectar at 12-0-5 at the Outdoor Theatre.

INDIO (CNS) - Indio police today reminded people planning to attend
this weekend's Coachella Music & Arts Festival to ensure their desert experience doesn't include extended interaction with law enforcement.
   ``People just love it, and it's their Disneyland,'' Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said. ``I mean it's a beautiful event. And, they make a poor choice -- or they are with someone who made a poor choice -- and then they are stuck spending time with us.

ACLU of Southern California

Goldenvoice, the organizers of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, has announced that Lady Gaga will step in to fill the headliner position in place of Beyonce, who announced she'll have to take a rain check for performing at Coachella because of her recently-announced pregnancy.  KVCR's Ken Vincent has more.

It's already being dubbed "Oldchella."  Goldenvoice, the promoters of the annual Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, yesterday confirmed that six of the biggest acts in rock history will perform at a three-day series of concerts called, "The Desert Trip," at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio this coming October.  KVCR's Ken Vincent has details.

Even though his candidacy will be the focus of the event, Vermont U.S. Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will not be able to attend Coachella Festival-adjacent block party to support the Senator's candidacy.

Estimates say attendance at the 2016 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio approached 100,000 for the first weekend of the two-weekend festival.  Many of those people woke up from a late night of music last night to hit the road today, forming what has become a traditional Monday-after-Coachella traffic jam on the westbound I-10 through the Coachella Valley into the Inland Empire.
