Temperatures Drop Slightly, Thunderstorms Possible

Temperatures will cool off today throughout our two county region, and lingering monsoonal moisture will create a chance of thunderstorms in the mountains and deserts. Mountains, passes and the Coachella Valley all have a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Skies in those areas are expected to clear up by tonight as conditions dry off and heat up heading into the weekend, forecasters said.
The chance of measurable precipitation has been set at 20 percent today. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid 90s in the metro areas, the low 100s in the low desert and mid 80s in southern Riverside county.
The mercury will begin to rise again on Thursday, with temperatures in the San Bernardino and Riverside metropolitan areas expected to reach the low 100s by Saturday.
Cooling centers are open daily across the county, providing residents who do not live in climate-controlled environments a free, cool space to relax until the evening hours.
