Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit Dies Following Complications From Pancreatic Cancer

County of Riverside

Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit passed away last night of complications from pancreatic cancer.  Benoit, who earlier this year wrapped up a term as Chair of the Board of Supervisors, suddenly announced he was cutting back on his workload last month, after he received what later would be a confirmed case of advanced pancreatic cancer.  Benoit had a long career in law enforcement before entering local elected politics.  KVCR's Ken Vincent has more on the life and career of John Benoit, and what's next for his vacant seat.

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
