Monday 8/14 Update: Holy Fire 59% Contained At 22,986 Acres

Twitter/@sgvtribune

UPDATED 9AM TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2018

Firefighters continue to increase containment of the Holy Fire, burning in the Santa Ana Mountains west of the I-15 corridor.  As of Tuesday morning, the Holy Fire has burned 22,986 acres with containment at 59%.  There are nearly 1,500 personnel assigned to fight the blaze.

Over the weekend, authorities continued to lift evacuation orders for some Lake Elsinore communities that were evacuated earlier in the week, but also issued a new voluntary evacuation alert for neighborhoods farther north.  Incident Command authorities on Sunday put portions of the Trilogy community in southwestern Temescal Valley, south of Corona, on voluntary evacuation notice.   Residents can keep up with the changing status of evacuation orders at @ClevelandNF.

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
