Huntington's Disease, Part 2: Local Efforts To Help Patients And Families Affected by HD

www.help4hd.org

In Part 2 of our interview about Huntington's Disease -- a genetic, neurological affliction that slowly diminishes the brain's ability to control physical and mental functions, usually leading to death -- we hear Melissa Bilardi and Daniel Medina discuss why Huntington's disease is less known than other life-threatening afflictions.  Bilardi and Medina talk about  organization Help4HD International, which offers a support group in the Inland Empire.  Medina, a Moreno Valley resident, also talks about research being done at UC Riverside on potential treatments for Huntington's disease.

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
