City Council Offers Up $30k Reward

City of Riverside

Earlier this week, the Riverside City Council approved a reward of $30,000, for the duration of 60 days, for information that leads to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Keith Allen.

About 7 months ago, on Friday, August 21, 2020, at approximately 6:03 a.m., Riverside Police Officers and Paramedics with the Riverside Fire Department responded to the  4th Street and Commerce Street area because of reports that a man was laying on the ground who appeared to be shot. An employee from a nearby business called law enforcement after finding the injured man. After authroties arrived, they located the subject, Mr. Allen, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

Through police investigation, detectives learned that Mr. Allen was a resident of the City of Hemet, a father of three and a Texas native. He was employed in the city of Riverside and rode the RTA bus on his commute to work.  Mr. Allen finished his shift as a factory warehouse worker early Friday morning. Detectives believe that Mr. Allen approached an RTA bus stop when he was robbed by unknown suspects and gunned down.

In a statement by Mr. Allen’s family it was said that “Keith was raised in Arlington, Texas and graduated from Lamar University. He taught English and Math in Houston and Arlington. He was 40- years-old when he died in Riverside and leaves behind three children, a sister, and his parents. Keith was both a member and legacy of the Alpha Phi Fraternity. We truly appreciate the detectives, police department, and city of Riverside for their assistance in trying to find the person who committed this senseless act.”

Detectives with the Robbery – Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in solving this case, and are hoping the $30,000 reward will lead to someone coming forward with information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information regarding the murder of Mr. Allen is urged to contact Detective Bryon Adcox at (951) 353-7134 or jadcox@riversideca.gov, or Detective Dave Riedeman at (951) 353-7104 or driedeman@riversideca.gov.
