Redlands Skate Park Delayed...Again

The Pacific Crest Trail runs 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada.  Usually a few hundred hearty souls make the trek every year.  But this year about ten times that number are attempting the arduous journey.  Capital Public Radio's Lesley McClurg hiked a section of the trail to find out what's driving its popularity.

Holiday Recreation Enthusiasts Asked To Be Mindful Of Nature

Memorial Day weekend is a busy time for California's parks.  As Capital Public Radio's Pauline Bartolone tells us, state officials want people to be mindful of wildlife, for the animals' sake...and for your own.


Many longtime Inland Empire residents will remember visiting Santa's Villiage in the San Bernardino Mountains as children.  The longtime Christmas theme park closed in 1998, but as KVCR's Matt Guilhem noticed in an article in the San Bernardino Sun, there are plans to reopen the park as soon as this summer.


New research shows that access to the outdoors, wilderness, and open spaces are all attractions to younger workers seeking employment in California.  The head of the U.S. Interior Department recently joined Members of Congress and state-based conservationists to push for protection of a large swath of California wilderness.  KVCR's Matt Guilhem has more in this story produced by  California News Service.
