Among the biggest winners in the state budget deal that California lawmakers will vote on this week are University of California and California State University students.  As Capital Public Radio's Ben Adler reports, Governor Jerry Brown agreed to more money to prevent tuition increases and boost enrollment.

Students and faculty rallying for more money for the California State University system received support from leaders of the state Legislature.  That could set up a budget showdown with Governor Jerry Brown, as Capital Public Radio's Ben Bradford reports.

Tomorrow (Friday) marks the 150th anniversary of the creation of the University of California system.  It's also the time of year when high school seniors learn their fate... when both the UCs and CSUs send out admission decisions.  Many will be disappointed.  And while California's public universities will turn away thousands of eligible students, nearby out-of-state schools are opening their arms.  As part of our statewide public radio collaboration looking at the California Dream, KQED's Vanessa Rancano reports.

The University of California and California State University could soon raise tuition for the first time in six years.  Capital Public Radio's Daniel Potter reports both systems discussed the move at budget meetings this week.

California Faculty Association members have voted to authorize a strike if salary negotiations with the California State University system fail.  As Capital Public Radio's Ed Joyce reports, the two sides are separated by 3 percent.

Faculty and other employees of Cal State San Bernardino and other California State University campuses across the state are preparing to vote on whether to authorize union leadership to call a strike if negotiations with CSU administration over salary issues aren't soon resolved.  KVCR's Ken Vincent has more.

Getting into college can be hard enough, but transferring can be even tougher.  A new report out this week looks at the progress one program is making toward easing transfers between community colleges and the California State University system.  Capital Public Radio's Katie Orr reports.
