Weekly News Review With IE Journalist Cassie MacDuff: RivCo Election; Big Bucks For The Cheech

Longtime Inland Empire journalist and KVCR contributor Cassie MacDuff and KVCR's Ken Vincent review some of the Inland Empire's top news stories this week, including:

  1. The Riverside County voter registrar has certified results in the June primary, settling who will face runoffs in high-profile races in November.
  2. Police allege that Redlands school district officials failed to report a child sexual abuse case, as required by law, until the perpetrator became pregnant.
  3. The parents accused of keeping their children in chains and starving them had a preliminary hearing, with the judge ruling they must stand trial.
  4. A celebrity benefactor enabled a nonprofit that rescues injured burros in Reche Canyon to buy 466 acres to help keep them off the busy road.

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
