4.5 Quake Shakes Inland Empire

earthquake.usgs.gov

A 4.5 earthquake centered just a few miles east of Riverside/San Bernardino shook the Inland region this morning.  The U.S. Geological Survey says the temblor, which occurred at 6:42 a.m. Pacific Time, was centered about 4 miles north of Banning.  The quake was felt as far east as the Coachella Valley, as well as in parts of Los Angeles and Orange counties.  There were no injuries reported, and a report of only very minor damage to a lighting fixture at a fast food restaurant in Banning.

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
